| Norris Tomlinson has been in the business of fitness since 1989 as a group instructor, personal trainer, coach, curriculum developer, and program director. He served as the national director of fitness services for one of the nation’s largest health club chains, Bally Total Fitness, for ten years. He was the developer and impetus behind the national Total Pilates Studio program available at select clubs nationwide.
Norris was introduced to the Pilates method of exercise in 1999 and it changed his way of moving, for the better, forever. “It’s the most intelligent way ever to exercise…to move and to be” he says. Norris has been teaching Pilates since 2003 to individual clients, small groups, and instructor trainees across the country. He worked under the direct tutelage of Elizabeth Larkam, director of Pilates and Beyond, and who is internationally recognized as an innovator in mind body movement techniques. In addition to an M.A. in Education, he holds certificates from Balanced Body Pilates (www.bbu.pilates.com), American Council on Exercise (www.acefitness.org), Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (www.afaa.com), and has completed course work in Stott Pilates. Norris currently teaches in the wellness program of the Northwestern Memorial Hospital Physicians Group.
Norris is well-versed in the mat work as well as each of the studio apparatus. He specializes in designing specific programs for individuals based on needs, challenges, and goals.
