| Paula Nixon became enchanted by Pilates at a Mat class in a Chicago yoga studio in 2001. Within weeks, a regular mat practice eliminated chronic low back pain, and she was thrilled to learn more about this enduring exercise program. She began teaching Mat classes in 2003.
"The many variations and modifications of Pilates drew me in," she recounts, "over the years my progress has been rewarding, and there is always more to study. To this day, Pilates is my favorite kind of exercise." With something to offer every body, Pilates led Paula to work with people of all ages, sizes, fitness levels, and various stages of recovery from injury.
The Chicago native's work has been well received in many settings: private lessons, gyms, health clubs, YMCAs, and university fitness centers. She has completed certifications in the Reformer, Chair, Arc Barrel, and Mat with Balanced Body University (www.bbu.pilates.com). Paula continues to advance her studies through the comprehensive curriculum offered by Balanced Body University.
Paula also holds certifications in Yoga, Spinning (www.spinning.com), prenatal fitness, and continues to teach a variety of fitness classes. With over 2000 hours of classroom and private instruction, Pilates remains her primary focus. The complete array of apparatus at Sirron Pilates Studio attracted her as much as its commitment to offering the finest instruction available in a private studio.
"In ten years of studying and teaching Pilates, my philosophy for clients and students has remained consistent: do your best and the rewards will follow," she says. She is delighted to devote her energy and passion for Pilates to Sirron Pilates Studio and its patrons.
